1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. Websites can also store information in your browser in other ways, such as local storage. This policy covers both, and we use the word “cookies” throughout to mean either.
2. Our approach
We only set the cookies the site needs in order to work until you tell us otherwise. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you are happy for us to measure how the site is used. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics software is loaded at all.
We do not run advertising on this site. There are no advertising cookies, no social media tracking pixels, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
3. Cookies we always set
These are needed to deliver the site you asked for, so they do not require consent. None of them are used to track you across other websites.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| vz_quota | Leith Kitchens | Counts kitchen visualiser renders so the free daily limit cannot be bypassed. | 25 hours |
| theme | Leith Kitchens | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark version of the site. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| lk-cookie-consent | Leith Kitchens | Records the choice you made on the cookie banner, so we stop asking. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| last-contact-time | Leith Kitchens | Stops the enquiry form being submitted repeatedly in quick succession. | Until you clear your browser storage |
If you use the kitchen visualiser, the photo you upload and the choices you make are also held in your browser for the duration of that visit so the tool can show your result. They are cleared when you close the tab.
4. Analytics cookies
These are only set once you press “Accept” on the cookie banner. They tell us how many people visit and which pages are useful, which is how we decide what to write and photograph next. We do not use them to identify you.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Counts visits and tells us which pages people read, using an anonymous identifier. | Up to 2 years |
| ph_*_posthog | PostHog | Tells us which pages lead to enquiries, so we can improve the ones that do not. | Up to 1 year |
We also use Vercel Speed Insights to monitor how quickly pages load. It does not set cookies and does not collect anything that identifies you, so it runs for every visitor.
5. Changing your mind
You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like. Use the link, here or in the footer of any page. If you withdraw consent, we switch the analytics off and delete the cookies they set.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the essential cookies above may stop parts of the site, such as the visualiser, from working properly.
6. Third parties
Where you have accepted analytics, Google and PostHog process the resulting data on our behalf. Their own notices explain what they do with it: see the Google privacy policy and the PostHog privacy policy.
7. Updates to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie we will update this page and, where the change affects what you agreed to, we will ask you again.
8. Contact
For any questions about this policy, or about the data we hold, email us at contact@leithkitchens.co.uk. You can read more in our privacy policy.
